Bharatpur is known as eastern getaway of Rajasthan ,
Bharatpur was founded by Maharaja Suraj mal in year
1733, According to legend city of Bharatpur is named
after Bharat brother of Lord Rama, Another brother
of Lord Rama " Laxman" is worshiped by ruler family
of Bharatpur, Its said city of Bharatpur & fort was
originally founded by " Rustam"a jat of Sogariya
clan, Maharaja Surajmal took over from Khemkaran,
the son of Rustam and established the empire.
Keoladeo Ghana National Park
This paradise for birds & bird lovers was declared
bird reserve in year 1956 and got national park
status in year 1982 and UNESCO declared its as world
heritage site in year 1985, This national park is
named after Lord Keoladev an aspect of Lord Shiva
who's temple is located inside of forests of Ghana,
Ghana forest is sprawls over an area of 29 sq Kms of
wetlands on the north south avian route of India.
There are over 375 species of birds spotted in
Keoladev Ghana National Park at Bharatpur, Bharatpur
bird sanctuary attracts migratory birds from
Siberia, europe, China & Tibet. The migratory birds
includes species like
pelicans,cranes,geese,ducks,eagles,hawks,shanks,stints,wagtails,
warbers,wheatears,flycatcher,larks etc.Best time to
visit park for migratory birds is October to
February & August to November for resident birds.
Vehicles are permitted up to Shanti Kutir inside of
national park , Electra vans operated by government
can be engaged in the sanctuary, the best way to
explore bird sanctuary is on foot or on bicyles or
cycle rickshaw who are available on hire, Boats can
also be hired .Bharatpur Bird sanctaury or Keoladev
National park is alos home of wild animlas like
Sambhar,barking deer, blue bull , spotted deer etc
Lohagarh Fort or Iron Fort: Lohagarh fort
withstood four British attacks and frustrated them
to no ends, Finally Lord Lake got success to capture
this Iron Fort in year 1804, Iron Fort is surrounded
by a moat and has number of fine monuments.
Government Museum: This Museum is located in
Karmkhas of fort , Rich collection of antiquities,
exquities, sculptures,and some ancientinscriptions.
Jawahar Burj & Fatehburj: Maharaja Surajmal had
built Jawahar burj & Fateh Burj inside of fort
commoemorate victories over British & Mughals.
The Palace: This beautiful palace is a fine
blend of Mughal & Rajput architecture, The palace
was built by different Maharajas in phases,The
apartments are richly decorated with patterned floor
tiles with exquisite designs, There is a museum in
the main central wing.

Nearest airport to Bharatpur is Agra (54 Kms),
Bharatpur is well connected by trains and located on
Delhi - Mumbai railway line, Bharatpur is well
connect by road , Agra is 56 kms, Delhi is 176 Kms,
Jaipur is 175 Kms.
